Mission: To provide an education that, based on freedom and personal responsibility, allows its students to develop their full intellectual and human potential. To achieve this, the IAU is committed to providing professional training with high academic standards, contributing to expanding the frontiers of knowledge through high-level research and transferring this knowledge for the benefit of society.

Vision: To achieve its Mission, the University is clear that it must deliver the fundamental knowledge and skills of the discipline that the students have chosen when choosing their classrooms, but not only this. Furthermore, it involves, on the one hand, developing skills and abilities that are transversal to the chosen programs and, on the other hand, cultivating values that are indispensable for inserting oneself into a complex society. Among these, freedom and responsibility are at the base of the university project of the IAU. Freedom means valuing diversity, freedom of thought, inquiry, creation and entrepreneurship, open discussion of ideas and, in short, the possibility of making decisions without coercion in the various spheres of life. All these virtues are indispensable not only to face professional and personal life but also to develop a university. Responsibility, on the other hand, implies being willing and prepared to respond in a rigorous, rational, deliberative and ethically sound manner to the challenges of professional work, as well as to assume the consequences of the decisions taken. We believe that this vision of education cannot be fully achieved if the university does not generate new knowledge, transfer it to society, and draw on society to develop increasingly relevant training programs and ask more appropriate research questions.
