Mission: The mission of the Catholic University of the North is, from the principles of Christian Humanism, to contribute to the development of the person, of society and of its cultural heritage, in the North of Chile, creating and spreading knowledge through teaching, research and links with the environment.
Vision: The vision of the Universidad Católica del Norte is to be the regional university leader and agent of change, at a national and international level, in the priority areas of territorial development of the macro zone of northern Chile and supported by the principles of Christian Humanism.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
