Mission: We are a state university of public character, linked to society, which preserves the material and immaterial legacy and exercises its purposes of integral formation at the different levels of higher education, research, extension, innovation and social projection; with principles and values appropriate to the university community in the exercise of its autonomy. A university community committed to the human and academic formation of citizens with critical thinking and the capacity to participate in the strengthening of democracy; with an interdisciplinary vision for the understanding and search for solutions to society's problems; based on knowledge of the sciences, disciplines, arts and knowledge. Linked to local and global academic networks and communities through research processes that create, transform, transfer, contextualize, apply, manage, innovate and exchange knowledge, to contribute to economic and social development in a sustainable manner.
Vision: As a public university, by the year 2028 we will maintain the condition of high quality in the processes of comprehensive training, research, innovation and knowledge transfer; with international recognition, linkage of information and communication technologies and impact on the academy and the different social and economic sectors, locally and globally; socially outstanding for preserving the material and immaterial legacy as one of its pillars for sustainable development.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
The result of the evaluation of the institution can be compared to obtain a view of the country, the region to which it belongs and the institutions of the world, placing it in their respective positions.
