Mission: The LLB is both a service laboratory and a laboratory developing its own scientific activity. One of its missions is the definition, installation and operation of the neutron spectrometers installed around the Orphée reactor in Saclay. They are mainly intended for the study of condensed matter. The laboratory's own scientific activity can be grouped into three sectors of more or less equal importance: physico-chemistry, structural and phase transition studies, magnetism and superconductivity.
