Mission: It is an academic community that, in a rigorous and critical manner, contributes to the protection and development of human dignity and cultural heritage through research, teaching and various services offered to local, national and international communities. It pays particular attention to the ethical dimensions of all fields of knowledge and human action, both at the individual and social levels. Within this framework, it advocates respect for the dignity and rights of the human person and his or her transcendent values, supports and promotes the implementation of justice in all orders of existence, promotes the preservation of the environment and respect for life. It enjoys the autonomy inherent in its status as a university, which is necessary for it to carry out its functions effectively. It exercises this autonomy responsibly, and consequently complies with social accountability, as determined by law. It guarantees its members academic freedom, safeguarding the rights of the individual and of the community within the requirements of truth and the common good directs its activity towards the integral formation of the human being. Therefore, it tries to train its members intellectually and ethically for the service to society in the professional practice and in the commitment with the sustainable development of the country. It seeks to integrate knowledge by examining reality with the methods of each academic discipline and, at the same time, promoting dialogue between these disciplines so that they can mutually enrich each other. It promotes the commitment of all members of the university community to the achievement of institutional goals through dialogue and participation, in accordance with this Statute h) as a private university it offers a specific alternative in the academic field in accordance with its own Statute and regulations, and as a Catholic university, it is inspired by Christian principles; it advocates the responsibility of the human being before God, respect for the dignity and rights of the human person and for his or her transcendent values; it supports and promotes the implementation of justice in all orders of existence; it encourages dialogue between the various disciplines and the faith, reflection on the great moral and religious challenges, and Christian practice.
Vision: PUCE is the national reference in integral and inclusive education with social impact. Innovation, agility and commitment identify its organizational culture. It is internationally recognized for its scientific production and the quality of its students and teachers.
The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents.
