Foundation: 2001

Mission: L'Istituto opera, nell'ambito della programmazione del CNR, con autonomia scientifica, finanziaria e gestionale. L'Istituto costituisce centro di responsabilità ai sensi del Regolamento di contabilità ed opera secondo le disposizioni ivi contenute e secondo gli altri Regolamenti dell'Ente. L'Istituto, nell'ambito del piano triennale di attività, svolge attività di ricerca ed ogni altra attività prevista al Capo IV del Regolamento di Organizzazione e Funzionamento. La missione dell'Istituto consiste nello studio e la comprensione dei processi geologici, naturali e ambientali-antropici, integrando le competenze tipiche delle scienze della terra, della geologia, dell'ingegneria geotecnica e mineraria, della geofisica, della chimica ambientale nonché della geochimica.
