Foundation: 2001

Mission: The Institute operates, within the CNR programming, with scientific, financial and managerial autonomy. The Institute constitutes a center of responsibility pursuant to the Accounting Regulations and operates according to the provisions contained therein and according to the other Regulations of the Entity. The Institute, as part of the three-year activity plan, carries out research and any other activity provided for in Chapter IV of the Organization and Operation Regulations. The mission of the Institute consists in the study and understanding of geological, natural and environmental-anthropic processes, integrating the typical skills of earth sciences, geology, geotechnical and mining engineering, geophysics, environmental chemistry as well as geochemistry.
