Mission: The Salesian Polytechnic is an institution of humanistic and polytechnic higher education, of Christian inspiration with a Catholic character and a Salesian nature; it is preferably directed to young people from the popular sectors; it seeks to form "honest citizens and good Christians", with human and academic excellence, with research and innovative capacity, contributing to local and national sustainable development.
Vision: As of 2023, the UPS is an institution of higher education of reference in the search for truth and the development of culture, scientific and technological research; socially recognized for its quality in academia and scientific production, for its university social responsibility and for its capacity to influence innovation, interculturality and development.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
