Mission: To seek the truth and to form man, through science, to serve society. The truth as a horizon towards which to direct, in communion and respect, our deepest cognitive, active and vital dimensions; an integral formation that unites the high quality scientific-technical dimensions, with the humanistic, ethical and spiritual ones; a spirit of research that contributes to the development of the experimental and experiential sciences; and a disposition of service to society that supposes an effective contribution to the humanly sustainable development of its local environment, of Ecuador and of all Humanity, with preference for the less favored sectors, all of this from the sense that metaphysical reflection and Idente pedagogy provide.
Vision: Our vision is el Humanism of Christ, which, in its historical manifestation and the development of its thought in the tradition of the Catholic Church, advocates an empowering universality, in accordance with the dignity that the human being has as a "child of God", which makes the University welcome, defend and promote in society, the product and reflection of every human experience.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
