Mission: The centre aims to contribute to the knowledge about conservation and management of the environment and the territory, as well as adaptation to environmental change at local, regional and global levels. In doing so, it seeks to be a bridge between the academic world, administrations and society, and to promote awareness within its field of action.
Vision: To carry out research and development of excellence to increase the knowledge of natural systems and to be applicable to the improvement of the conservation and management of the natural environment and the territory. To ensure that CREAF exercises leadership at a state level and achieves growing recognition at an international level. To position CREAF as a centre of reference in terrestrial ecology, territorial analysis and global change in the Mediterranean basin. To extend the synergies between scientific research and technological development in order to meet the environmental management and territorial planning needs of administrations and the private sector. To be a centre that is less and less dependent on the political situation, with efficient management and a high capacity for obtaining resources, while maintaining financial balance. The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
The result of the evaluation of the institution can be compared to obtain a view of the country, the region to which it belongs and the institutions of the world, placing it in their respective positions.
