Mission: To contribute to the reduction of inequities and improvement of the socio-health conditions of the population, particularly in the northeast region of Brazil, through the generation of scientific and technological evidence that induces health policies and health science and technology and integrated actions of research, teaching, services and technical cooperation.
Vision: To be a public and strategic health institution, recognized by society in the State of Pernambuco and in Brazil for its capacity to effectively place science and technology at the service of the population's health, thus contributing to the reduction of social inequalities, the consolidation and strengthening of the SUS, and the elaboration and improvement of public health policies.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
