Foundation: 1959

Mission: As a national scientific institution, we are carrying out researches in the fields of ocean sciences, including: tropical marine environmental dynamics and their ecological affects; marginal sea geology and paleoenvironment; sustainable utilization of marine biological resources. Comprehensive and systematic studies of the marine and ocean sciences are also encouraged with a mission to meet the national strategic demands by aiming at scientific frontiers in the world.
