Mission: The University of Cantabria is a public institution whose mission is to develop an integral education, with a global vision and which responds to the needs of its environment, generating quality research and training, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship and transferring knowledge and culture in a socially responsible way. Comprehensive training, with a global vision and that responds to the needs of its environment: Comprehensive: to train, besides very valuable professionals, people with a critical spirit, social values, European and global feeling and digital mentality. With a global vision: with the capacity to attract talent and prepare our graduates, Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) and Administration and Services Staff (PAS) with the ability to compete globally. That it responds to the needs of its environment: that it allows it to respond with more agility to what society and the job-generating sectors are demanding, without losing the quality or coherence of a university education. Quality research: to generate new quality knowledge in all areas of the university. Innovation and entrepreneurial culture: to transfer the results of research in collaboration with the business and professional sector, in order to improve the quality of life and social and economic development. Transfer of knowledge and culture: disseminate to encourage vocations and promote social awareness. Socially responsible: to develop university social responsibility as an instrument of social change, contributing to the development of a diverse, tolerant and cohesive society.

Vision: The University of Cantabria will become a fundamental asset for an intelligent development, putting in value the potentialities of the region and leading the change towards a growth pattern based on knowledge and innovation. All this will contribute to a sustainable social and economic development, transforming Cantabria into an internationally recognized "Region of Knowledge". A university with a quality education in line with social demand, aimed at the employability of its graduates and which attracts national and international students. A university with a research activity that responds to the demands of the environment and with criteria of scientific excellence that projects it internationally. A university with a close collaboration with the socio-economic environment that promotes transfer, entrepreneurship and innovation. A university committed to the social, educational and economic development of its region. A university that is sustainable from a social, environmental and economic point of view, and that provides solutions to social needs. A university in tune with the Action Plan for the implementation of Agenda 2030 and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDA). A university that adapts to change and makes internationalisation, the integration of technology into educational models and employability transversal elements of its new organisational culture. In short, a university in which the skills, competencies and motivations of the people who make up the university are the key to its future.
