Mission: The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a university that emerged from a popular aspiration, committed to the continuous improvement of the quality and efficiency of the public service it provides to society. Its basic objectives are: to form competent, educated, responsible and supportive people generate, apply and disseminate knowledge collaborate in the economic progress and social welfare of the Canary Islands create and extend culture and promote international relations from our Atlantic island
Vision: We aim to achieve an autonomous university in its thinking and internal development, with high levels of self-government. An innovative university in teaching, research, management and social impact activities; that builds and radiates culture in its environment; concerned with environmental quality and sustainable development; that promotes solidarity among peoples and cooperation; that contributes to the solution of social problems and promotes international relations from our Atlantic island. Working towards this vision, our aim is to be recognized inside and outside the Canary Islands for the academic prestige of our teachers, for the comprehensive training of our graduates, for the professional work of our administration and services staff and for the relevance of our social impact actions.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
