So the university works to show the civilized, scientific and technical face through creativity and serious work. The University of Basra also hopes that the university’s mission will be a scientific embodiment of its mission of empowering young generations to innovate and develop by arming them with knowledge and its types and fostering the creative ideas of teachers that lead to real innovations as well as building bridges of cooperation and dialogue between Iraqi, Arab and international universities.

It is recognized for its originality, efficiency, and excellence at the fields of university education, scientific research, and community services in a way that achieves comprehensive and sustainable human development in the region.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
The result of the evaluation of the institution can be compared to obtain a view of the country, the region to which it belongs and the institutions of the world, placing it in their respective positions.
