Mission: The University is considered to be the most optimal way of assessing and teaching modern scientific knowledge using the most up to date techniques and methods. It is, then, the most important institution for the desired development and efficiency factor in order to develop economic knowledge in Arabic and the whole world. It is, as such, a highly significant institution. Therefore, the university is working on to show the cultural, scientific and technical side through creativity and hard working. University of Basra also hopes that the University's mission will be a scientific embodiment of its own mission representing in enabling young generations for innovation and development by providing them with different kinds of knowledge and fostering the creative ideas for teachers, which lead to true creations in addition to establishing the cooperation bridges and dialogue between Iraqi, Arab and world universities.
Vision: University of Basrah seeks to be one of the best Iraqi, Arabic, and international universities. It is recognized for its originality, efficiency, and excellence at the fields of university education, scientific research, and community services in a way that achieves comprehensive and sustainable human development in the region.
The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
