Mission: Wakayama University is the only national university within Wakayama Prefecture, a place cultivated over time in the setting of its abundant historical and natural environment including the world cultural heritage sites at Koya and Kumano. As such, the university carries on its mission and role of being the focal point of academic culture, being parto f the community, pursuing academic research that helps develop the community, and human resources that can be driving forces of regional revitalization.
Vision: Wakayama University Will cater to demands of society and the community and build a governance system that can maximize the functions of education, research, and collaboration with the community.
The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
