Mission: The mission of the National Institute of Pediatrics is the development of models of care for children and adolescents through basic scientific, clinical and epidemiological research, applied to the priority needs of the population, through training and development of human resources of excellence, for health, as well as health care of high specialty with high quality and constituting the model of world class care.
Vision: The National Institute of Pediatrics must have an impact on basic health indicators for children and adolescents by reducing the burden of disease and promoting comprehensive financing and care that includes the family in the areas affected by the child's illness. It is also an institution that shares leadership in generating knowledge of the causes and determinants of the disease in children under 18. It is at the forefront because it anticipates solutions to emerging, re-emerging and lagging problems, with internationally certified services.

The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents.
