Mission: Provides diagnostic and treatment services for oral diseases; Constitutes, in the healthcare sector, the final reference level for public and private health establishments located in its service basin; Develops cooperation mechanisms with these establishments and contributes to their implementation. Training: Provides practical, general and specialized training for students in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry; Contributes with public and private training establishments to the basic practical training of nurses, midwives and other paramedics and all other executives called upon to work in the health system; Contributes to the continuing education of health professionals. Research, expertise and innovation: Contributes to health research, in accordance with public policies, in this area and in collaboration with research establishments (The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, ISPITS, ..); Performs biomedical and technical forensic expertise; Contributes to the evaluation of medical technology; Contributes to innovation in the health sector and constitutes a reference level for public authorities in clinical research. Public health: Participate in health promotion, prevention and health security actions; Provides health education to its users and promotes therapeutic education; Put in place mechanisms to guarantee patient safety; Participate in the organization and medical regulation of pre-hospital and hospital emergencies.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output.
