Foundation: 1935

Mission: The Ministry of Health has the mission of protecting personal dignity, promoting health, preventing disease and guaranteeing comprehensive health care for all the country's inhabitants; proposing and conducting health policy guidelines in consultation with all public sectors and social actors. The person is the center of our mission, to which we dedicate ourselves with respect to the life and fundamental rights of all Peruvians, from before their birth and respecting the natural course of their lives, contributing to the great national task of achieving the development of all our citizens. We, the workers of the Health Sector, are agents of change in constant improvement to achieve the maximum well-being of the people.

Vision: The health of all persons in the country will be the expression of a substantial socio-economic development of the strengthening of democracy, of the rights and responsibilities of citizens based on the expansion of sources of stable and formal employment, with improved income, on education in values oriented towards the person and on a culture of solidarity, as well as on the establishment of equitable mechanisms of accessibility to health services through a coordinated and decentralized national health system, and on the development of a national health policy that gathers and integrates the contributions of traditional medicine and of the diverse cultural manifestations of our population.
