Mission: The mission of CHULC, EPE is to provide differentiated health care, in articulation with the other health care units integrated in the National Health Service (SNS). The activity of the CHULC, EPE ensures each patient care that meets their needs, in accordance with the best clinical practices and a logic of clinical governance, promotes the efficient use of available resources and also covers the areas of research, teaching, prevention and continuity of care, according to the primacy of the patient.
Vision: The CHULC is a central hospital, with university education and postgraduate training, with high scientific, technical and technological differentiation, and is recognized for clinical excellence, effectiveness and efficiency assuming itself as a reference institution.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents.
