Mission: In order to highlight its values in the form of objectives, programmes and goals, UCAD has set itself some fundamental missions, among which the main ones are the following to train high-level personnel, scientifically and technically qualified, adapted to the African context and the contemporary world, aware of their responsibilities towards their peoples and capable of serving them with dedication ; to develop research in all disciplines of science, technology and culture; mobilize all intellectual resources in the service of the economic and cultural development of Senegal and Africa and participate in the solution of national and continental problems.
Vision: UCAD's vision is that of being a high-performance university at the service of the economic, social and cultural development of Senegal and Africa while remaining rooted in the value systems that form the foundation of the Senegalese nation. It proclaims its openness to solidarity and complementarity with the rest of the world. This vision makes the mastery of science and technology the essential foundation of the fight for the development of Senegal and Africa.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
